y7 block y8 head

- Wed Feb 11, 2009 8:58 am #95662 i bought my civic ex (ek) with a d16y7 non-vtec. its been stock since i bought it about 2 years ago. well, im bored i wanna go a little faster.

i just picked up a d16y8 head with vtec for a mini me swap.

i was just wondering what problems i may run into? if any. also, how much hp gains will i get with this swap. im also boosting it in about two months. if anyone can give me some tips or comments id appreciate it. thanks :o

And you wouldn't encounter any problems with doing the mini-me as long as you got the right swap parts. The power gain won't be that much but I'm pretty sure it's about 20+hp. :thumb:

- Wed Feb 11, 2009 11:45 pm #95836 yeah when i got the head i took the IM with injectors and throttle body. i may be wrong but didnt the ex come with vtec? i know for a fact the d16y7 thats in the car now isnt the original motor. so im hoping the wiring harness would match up with the y8? idk im kinda new to all this... thanks for your help.
