#56702 i was looking at my valve cover bolts on my new hatch today and i noticed that on of them is broken off about an inch down... the rest of the bolt appears to be stuck inside the head... so wat would be the easiet fix for this?

#56703 remove the valve cover. if there's any of the bolt sticking up out of the head, grab it with vise grips & twist it out. if it broke off too far down, then use eazy outs:

#56710 same thing happened to me once, I had to use the easy outs. The valve cover bolts don't need to be very tight, I think the manual only calls for 8 or 10 ft lbs which is like holding the wrench with your index finger and thumb.

#56725 Previous owner of mine really cranked on one of them and stripped the threads in the head so the bolt just barely holds. It makes for an annoying little oil leak. So less is more in this case.

#56733 Torque wrench FTW

Just wait until you have to fix a broken lug. Or a stripped spark plug.

#95481 If im not mistaken, if you take your valve cover off you can see the bolt that is stud that's broken. at the base of the stud that meets the head you can just use a long socket to unscrew it out.....If this is what you are talking about lol

#95593 I had the same problem but mine got worse.

The actual metal on the head with threads, broke off of the head. =[

#95606 If you just take a long socket you can get it out without using the easy outs.
