Ok so everyone should know by now i have an ls swap. straight stock, no work done to it. Lately ive been burning oil. no leaks, but a small wiff of blue smoke out of the exhaust during high neutral revs. Well lately ive noticed that the engine is bogging down in ANY gear up till about 3500 rpm. After it hits that rpm it feels like, and im not joking here, like vtec kicking in. Instant boost of power. its not vtec by the way. Is my oil pump going? Clogged maybe? Just before i recieved the car it had a head gasket replacement. Now mind you (and i dont think this has anything to do with it) but my transmition is fucked. 2nd scratches, 3rd doesnt even go in, and 4th scratches. Ive been checking the oil levels and truthfully they havent been that low. every 2 weeks i put have to top it off a little. I dunno whats going on but i know that ever since this problem, the car has been idling normal. Usually it does the honda hop. Share your ideas please! thanks civic-eg fams!

Normally you can remove the head entirely and change, or remove the engine completely (not an option where i live) then change, or remove the timing belt and cams, or can i change with everything in place (i.e. engine cams etc.) right? Cause it sounds like the latter is my only option unless i get it to a shop (dont have THAT many tools and cant do most of the rest here since the association wont allow any engine work in parking spaces. ghey. Even though doing it with the engine together would save time since I would'nt have to mess with the timing belt cams etc.
Also would i have to replace anything else while im at it or should just those suffice? Im in a glass case of emotions here, help a brotha out. lol!
