TURBO ON AUTOMATIC?

Postby defjamon26z » Mon Sep 08, 2008 3:26 am

i did a search on this site and didnt find any luck. for a d16z6 automatic i had a conversation with some friends during lunch break. my plan was to get 12 psi on this automatic single cam vtec. then we bought up the shifting. if the turbo was to rev quickly the transmission might not shift quickly and who knows? stay in the redline a lil tooo long. i was plannin on buyin piston and rod for the car but forget it. scratch that. what's the safest amount for an automatic turbo?

not too sure but id say 12psi would work just fine for a a/t but idk how long it would last. if youre gonna be gettin pretty serious about it and build the motor a little bit then why not spend a little more and swap a 5spd tranny and put a good clutch, press. plate and flywheel in and be set?

just my .02

i like the car alot but im not down to swap it into manual. i done the hard work on my honda accord 93 auto-manual swap going to the junkyard getting all those lil things, bolt, clutch master cylinder, hydraulic line etc.. thing is i didnt have any local friends that was WILLING to get dirty or learn or help me do the auto-manual swap. they were pretty much busy and workin or at the hang out. i bought a full head gasket kit which has almost every gasket there is in a d16z6 going to do it today and take picture. maybe the admin would like to make a sticky. so hopefully i'll get to trade my car for a civic 00 with all the b series goodie without the motor. if not i'll turbo it and keep it for a daily and at 6 or 7 psi so i wouldnt have to waste money on piston and rod.
