#99537 There is this guy and he wants to trade hatches but his has the dohc zc in it and he claims all it says on the stamp is zc. Now we all know he is wrong but is there a way to tell just by looking at it which one it is? he told me it came from an 89 teg but I know that the d16a3 and the d16a8/9 are both dohc out of that same yr teg. help me out?

#99539 http://thenew.gamesbbs.com/~dmoore/zc.htm

maybe that site can help i knwo its helped me and well if it came out of a 89 integra then over here in the states its also a D16a1 now those are not true ZC's by any means and if placed into a 88-on up civic have had their mounts modded since i do remember my buddy trying to fit one of those motors into his crx and he couldnt really do it without hurting the position of the motor and or the mount itself. those motors where really designed to fit the first gen crx and the civic that went with that year round 84-87 since they mounted almost exactly the same....at least thats how it is ove rhere in the states

#99540 definitely check the mounts because I have also thought about butting an 89 teg motor into one of my old civics but the mounts are not the same and no one makes a kit for them, you can put the motor in an eg but one of the mounts wont work.

I knew a guy who ran it with out that mount and he said it was fine till about 80mph then the car would start to shake

#99547 stright from the Honda Engine Swaps book in the 88-91 section since its an EF

"early model '86 -'89 USDM Integras are in no way compatible with this chassis."

the only way is if it's an actual ZC motor

#99578 Zc2(2nd gen zc)
Is a rare motor. Only made for less than a year and it came on jdm integra si.

Zc is the most common.
Its obd0 and yes it just has zc stamped on the block.

#99583 well how many diff versions are there if it just says zc on the block. Meaning if it just says zc how do i figure the specs of it, if there is more than one block with just zc on it.

There are 4 versions. 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen and 4th gen.

If its a 1st gen is identified by: External coil, small dizzy, dual butterfly TB, cam cover bolts on top, brown/gold cam cover. Large cam pulleys.

2nd gen is identified by: Internal coil, large dizzy, single butterfly TB mounted on slight angle forward, bolts on top of cam cover, black cam cover, large cam pullies.
