Turbo and Supercharger discussion

#69538 Well im planning to turbo my d15b, but i got some questions bout boosting my D.

There was a guy here in NZ that boosted his d16. He was running stock internals. Everything in the outide was done up like walbro pump, bigger lines and etc. One of the questions is can i run a turbo with stock internals?

And what do i need to boost my car? All i know is change the fuel pump, the snail, wastegate..

#69580 I'm sure a lotta people gonna bash you when you didn't use the search function.

But the answer to your question is yes, you can run on stock internals assuming they are all good. But I advice you to do forged internals since you're at it. Forged pistons and rods don't cost that much for our engines(I saw some vitara pistons and eagle rods for $500ish on eBay), and I'm pretty sure it'll be worth it. :thumb:

#69604 Agreed, I wouldn't plan on too much longevity with factory internals unless you utilize very low boost. And if your going to go through the trouble of boosting it, running the lines. Getting the fuel pump and all that that is involved, you might as well do it right and build the engine.
Don't cop out and do it half assed. Balls deep bro, balls deep.

#70147 list of esentials to turbo your car..

-forged pistons and rods
-arp head studs
-intercooler and pipes
-turbo manifold
-bigger injectors (DSM 450ccs work nice)
-walbro 225 fuel pump (what i used)
-inline resitors for the injectors (10ohms at 10watt) or do a resistor box
-bov
-wastegate (if not internal)
-fittings/feed lines and misc nuts and bolts
-turbo
-phearable ecu basemap(what i used) or some type of chipped ecu. using crome or uberdata to tune with and get a good professional tune like teal said
-boost, oil press, and af gauges
-wideband o2 sensor is a plus
-oil filter sandwhich adapter from glowshift used for oil feed line and oil press. gauge.

here are a few sites you can buy shit off of

www.moates.net
www.diyautotune.com
www.phearable.net
www.siliconeintakes.com
www.ebay.com
www.atpturbo.com
www.glowshift.com

good DIY setups can be found at www.homemadeturbo.com and www.turbod16.com

hope that can be of some help to ya :thumb:

#80663 Hey, you MUST!! replace your head gasket use the steel one out of the si v-tech d15. Service bulletins say the paper d15 gasket was recalled on d15s.
stay at or below 10 psi and your stock internals will be fine anything over 11 and you throw rods. been there wrecked it all. if you want big boost internals are NECESSARY. need a map the stock one barely handles atmospheric pressure(no boost) recommend 400-500 cc injectors.

Boosted hatch, out.

#80665 almost forgot. the stock rod bolts are weak and a common failure of the D-series. upgrade to ARPs its only 50$ or so but well worth 1500 dollars of engine work.
