Turbo and Supercharger discussion

#135184 So I was thinking... my bay is pretty clean

The turbo added a little clutter but the thing that bugs me the most is the catch can. that seems to be 'the spot' because it is elevated from the engine and not too far away. not to mention it's the only thing hanging on the firewall.

So I was thinking if it would be a good idea to build a custom cowl that would be long and skinny and sit inside of the cowl under the plastic cover. I'd drill 2 holes in the top of the firewall and run 2 stainless braided lines through to the can. The drain would be a tube with a petcock on the end that would come out under the dash. It's a vented catch can, so my concern is the high pressure area at the base of the windshield/cowl on cars due to aerodynamics.

I'm wondering if that much pressure would prevent the vented catch can from properly venting? (if it was able to properly vent, I would probably have to put the vent in the center by the wiper hole so that the fumes would not go into the side windows)

I'm no physics genius, wanted to see if anyone had any insight....

#135300 you know, i don't think that the pressure differential would be enough to cancel out the effect of the catch can. the only thing that comes to mind is an airplane wing that creates lift... with the high pressure flowing over the top, it creates a low pressure side underneath.
if you built a special kind of box that is underneath the plastic wiper cover stuff, i would leave the box vented as well that way the pressure(s) wouldn't build up and it would vacate as well as the catch can vapors

how is your catch can setup? line from VC to catch can, other line from black box to catch can? and do you have a drain ?

maybe this helps... :?
