getting f**king pissed off with my car now!!! please help!!!

most of you know i had to replace all 16 valves last week which was great doing it myself, saved me some money and i got to say i did quite a big jo on my car all by myself. lol

the car ran perfect all week (well - after i replaced the o2 sensor)

but yesturday i notice that the idle would sit at 1500rpm and then drop to about 800rpm and settle... now it didnt really bother me much as the car was still driving really well.

but this morning i start it up and it now idles at 2000rpm which did bother me! when i would push the clutch in when coming to a stop it would go to 2000rpm for a few seconds then drop to 1500rpm and not go any lower.

now i thought it could maybe be a small air leak from the inlet manifold because when i fitted it last week i got the gasket a little bit wet but let it dry before fitting it. so i took it to my mates garage and did the usual test of spraying brake cleaner around the inlet manifold to see if the revs would increase but nothing.

so i re-set the ECU to see if that - on the off chance anything would go right for the change - would help the problem! but insted of it helping it made it worst, started to hunt... bouncing from 1000rpm to 2000rpm

so im stuck again! this is what happened to my b16a i never figured out the problem with that! i cant afford much at the moment so unless this is a cheap fix the civic will once again have to go up for sale! i really dont wanna sell it so please help me out guys!

the idle control valve was taken off and cleaned about a month ago so i dont see that being the problem.

when i replaced the o2 sensor last week it was from an mb6 1.8vtec engine not a jdm itr engine - could this be anything to do with the problem?

car isnt trowing and fault codes so im stuck!

PLEASE HELP

Clean out the IACV on the back of the intake mani.
Brake/carb cleaner is fine to use.

Probably not...but it did get to the point where my IACV just failed all together, didnt matter how much I cleaned it. I've been through 3 of them already on my ITR head.

Maybe try spraying for a vaccuum leak again, you never know. :?

something wrong with the cooling system wouldnt result in an iratic idle would it?

Thats true, might have air in the system.

so air in the cooling system could result in a dodgy idle?

if so wouldnt this have happened straight away - not wait a week then start to do it?

Yup can do. It solved the problem on my car after trying everything else. :thumb:

just let the car idle with the rad cap off. you might need to hold the throttle @ a 2-3k to get the thermostat to open. Every time the coolant level gets low looking in the top of the radiator, top it off.

I've also heard of a temperature switch going bad can cause these sympoms. But try bleeding the system first :thumb:
