i have a b16A i can swap into my 93 civic cx or a b18a. whats goin to be faster im a huge fan of v-tec and would love to have it but simply whats faster the b18 has a mild race head on it too.

with what tranny? because generally the dc2 tranny would have shorter gear ratio's which means it's quicker in achieving it's redline.

well the B18a is non vtec so you're not gonna be getting vtec with that one. but depending on it's build on the motor build depends on which would be faster
i thought the b16a was vtec though?

Depends on what exactly is done to the head on the B18, but in the long run the B16 is likely to end up giving you more power, especially if you decide to build for boost as the internals in the B16 are stronger, mainly the cylinder walls being thicker I believe.

I would also say the B16 with the tranny. you have VTEC and if you wanna go down the boost route then you'll have a good engine to start that project.

The B18 will be faster. Head work or not. I have a B18b with a B16a tranny. B16a swapped hatches are not a problem. MOdded GT mustangs are a problem. Ive beaten GSR, ITR and B16a swapped hatches with a stock B18b/B16a tranny combo.

ok cause i think im going with the b18a1 seeing as i just want a N/A motor build. also the head on the b18a1 i found is only ported and polished withg stock internals. the intake manifold is ported to match the head. if i end up with this motor i plan on puttin in some nice cams. anyone know were i can get cams for a b18a1 and around what gains ill see?

For cams for the B18a check out Brian Crower's site. They have a few different ones.

Huh? You're not giving the whole story then. You're saying a B18B on a B16 trans is faster than a B18C on a B18C trans in the same chassis? The math just doesn't add up. The B18C has more power throughout the entire power band thanks to the two stage manifold and VTEC.

Granted...
GSR, and ITR were both in CX EK hatches. Both people I know. B16a swap was in both a EG and EK. The only person I know of with a GSR in a EG has a supercharger on it, so that would be pointless.
