oil rings?

Is there such thing as oil rings? if not the motor im getting smokes and the guy claims its the oil rings. if not then what could be the problem? motor is a b18b1.

Yes. The piston has rings on it. 3 of them. Depending on what color the smoke is, is what is wrong with it.

its blue in color? is it the piston rings?

yes i know oil is burning but what are the things that are causing this? What should i check for or what should i replace?

to create more interest in your topic, you should make the title more descriptive. Try "oil rings" or "oil rings bad?" for example.
To get rid of the blue smoke, you will need new rings. Your current ones are allowing oil into the combustion chamber.

all of them on all four cilinders, and maybe get the block resleeved or honed, depending on the wear in the cilinder.
but blue smoke can also be valve seals, but 9 out of 10 times the cilinders are worn out. people used wrong oil or didnt heat up the engine before putting their right foot down.

all rings, each piston has 3 of them. but measure the cilinders before you replace the rings.

when you replace rings you replace all of them on all of the pistons. While your at it hone the cylinder walls too. Since you have the motor apart, get new bearings and seals for everything too.
