aftermarket cams?

how dose one tell if you have a set. :thumb:

:? usually aftermarket cams have some sort of distinction. For example...HKS = Purply colour,
Skunk2=Laser engraved retard points with S2 written on it somewhere

and so on...

not to sure about ebay types, you could always post up a detailed pic and someone should know

There are two of them. That makes a set. :D


Different companies will mark them in different ways. Toda stamps theres with what ever spec they are. A B or C.

i was looking at some and there is a "J" in a circle engraved on the cam shaft it self not the lobs and on both shafts its located right in the middle of cylinder 2 and 3

my only guess for that would be JUN cams, but I have no idea. I cant think of another cam maker that uses J...

I'm such an idiot, I could of swore you said cam gears in my mind lol
There's hardly any way of telling what cams are what, that's why many people have issues with "type-r" lookalike cams. As far as I know you would have to measure the cam lobes and cam angle and compare to manufacture specs. JDMChick might know about the skunk2 cams as she's recently got a set. she might be able to confirm if they have an form of engraving on them :)

yeah thats what i thought and the car dosnt have a "mean" idle so they are not all that aggresive.. but the car is running w/o a tune...

yeah the motor is pulling 2.5 - 3 cars on stock IHE GSR's in 4dr egs and tegs with me actually trying.. lol

well heres a close up of the cam.. and in the pic on the right you can see a N abd on the opposite side of that cam, there is a J

btw srry if its big.

What motor do you have?

I believe the ones you have are stock. I just ran out and dug a set of gsr cams out of a box, one had a G and the other had an H. I can't remember what the opposite stamps were tho. let me know what motor and i'll go find a set and let you know.

well the motor is a b16a

and imo they arnt stock b16 cams, cause i was looking at a friends set they only have a B on them
