well i polished / painted my friends VC and when we go to but it back on and turn it on with all the blots down and tight it would idle low and a small back fire when he revved it while in the drive way.

now i am askin if this is a ground problem because the ground wire that goes to the motor is a bad wire its all chewed up on one end. what do you think? its a GSR btw.

bad grounds are never good, Replace the wire and it should help. It may have been frayed eough to be barely working, them moving it around made it worse.
