B16 overheating on first start up

Hoping you guys can help me out. I recently had my b16 motor rebuilt. All new seals/gaskets. Supertech valve train, new headgasket etc. I started it up for the first time today and after about 5 minutes of idleing it over heats and the temp gauge goes all the way to H. I didn't put the motor together but I did buy a thermostat and was told it was put in. I tried getting all the air bubbles out and pretty sure I did. Anyone know what else it can be? It's really bothering me. Should I change thermostat to see if that's the problem?
Thanks in advance

This might be the right time to dive in your self into the motor .
Not saying all mechanics are bad, but you never know.
Double and triple check everything before you crank it again.

Anyone know what it could be? I'm going to try changing the thermostat to see if that works. Also the fan isn't coming on so hopefully it's just the switch

Coming on cause it

Yes. No fan = overheat. But i doubt that it would over heat in 5 mins after it being completely cold

Check tstat, air in coolant, radiator leaks, waterpump, headgasket, fan switch

Ya I'm going to try the thermostat first, the headgasket and water pump were changed with new ones. I'm praying it's the t stat.

Do you have an infrared temperature gun?

Solved the problem, I didn't know this but there was a "bleeder" screw on the theromostat housing, i bled that a few times until a steady stream of
Fluid came out and it was good to go, blowing hot air and all.
Thanks everyone
