im thinking od ditching my sohc and going b20b no vtec though......i wanna boost.....about how much is the estimate and of course daily drive(enough to canyon run only....)

IMO no. it wont be good for canyon runs. Depending on the set up you will not get boost fast enough to exit the turn with enough speed to keep up with others. For canyon runs I would stick with a all motor set up.

B18C1 is most likely your best route, and doing some NA upgrades that way. Or if you really have some money to play with, everyone loves a K20

its not good to boost on b20's if your gonna boos,t boost on a b18b

The cylinder walls on the B20 are weak. GSR is the best motor to boost IMHO.

i don't mean to flame or what ever it is called, but i don't know where you got the info from but a b20 is a great set up for boost if you wanted to go that route. It has the low compression and great bore for the torque. As far as the walls being weak...most Honda engines will not tolerate much more than 8 psi before the engine becomes unreliable.

Oscar M:if you went with a supercharger that would be a great set up for the money. It would make the b20 seem like a big v6 and since the hp and torque is gains go up (to a point) with the rpms you would have ample engine response with good to really good power for those canyon runs. I suggest doing some homework with what you want then hit the books and talk to the reps for the products to see if they will suit you best.

B20 walls are thin and as for 8 lbs?... some peeps down here in tulsa have been able to Daily their cars on like 9-12 lbs on thier stock motors

I'll tell you where I get my info......the shop I work at!! I get my info from the countless damaged B20's blocks sitting around my shop. I get my info from all the pissed off customers that are sorry they ever did a B20.

B20's have thinner walls than all other b-series engines. 6mm seperates each cyl, where all other b series' have 9mm seperation.
the b20 casting technique is also different from all other b-series castings.
this accounts for its weakness in comparison to the other b engines.

How about a B20 all motor? High(er) compression, VTEC head and such, can it withstand that safely?
