#69287 ok i got a b18b1 head and a b18a1 block. im putting it into my 4 door eg and im looking for some ideas. i want to make this into a nice daily driver that will still keep me running with the pack. i dont need no 9 second car.lol but im looking for somthing in the lowere 14s. what internals should i get and what should i have done to the block and head??? i have every thing there but should i use all oem parts with just a port and polish head. or what ?? so throw me some ideas on what would need to achive this goal....also i been hearing that useing b16 pistons in the block with just the stock rods and stuff with a taller head gasket to achive more compresion. is this true??? and if so do i have to boar out the block or anything to put these in???? thanks everyone

#69295 Hone the block, get some US ITR pistons, oil pump and water pump, rear main seal and oil pan gasket, with new rod and main bearings.

As for the head, you can get it ported and polished if you want, it will cost a bit. Add some Brian Crower cams of your choice and you will be set for the motor.

Should get you around 11:1 for the compression ratio and be pretty quick. Mate to it a B16a or GSR tranny and you will be in the 14s for sure. My stock LS with a B16a tranny ran 14s.

You might also consider a Skunk2 IM and TB

#69335 you might want to look into getting valve springs and retainers to match the cams.

#69432 ya i was thinking bout that. should i get the crower kit or another brand. and what will be the diff. between stock/aftermarket??? o im honing the block with oversized type r pistons stock rods and all new bearings. so that is what the block will get. along with gsr/type r oil pump water pump new oil catch can the engine griddle and new oil pan with fresh gaskets. and the head will be getting port and polish with heat dip. new crower cams, valves, springs, and retainers and a set of cam gears not sure witch ones. ill work on getting new intake man and throttle body to acomidate the rest. but thats about as far as my bujet will let me go. so it will take a little time to get all the parts. but i got all winter to work on it so when summer comes around ill be ready....

#69438 Sounds good, but why are you getting a girdle for the LS? How high do you plan to rev the motor? They cost a lot. what brand are you getting?

#69486 you dont really need to go past 7500 in the LS. Its what I have in my car and I autoX it. Im sure you can take it to 8 with out the girdle, but Im not sure. Never really saw the need to rev that high in a B18b.

#70537 easer to get ahold of. plus i drove a car with the b16 tranny and its way to short for me. dont like driveing 75 at 4.5 hun rpm. pluss its not like im going to be at the track racinging every single day. so i figure ill just use an ls witch is better for the freeway. i have to comute every day bout 50 miles a day. and talked to a few ppl that work at this shop i go to and the guy hates the b16 tranny in his car. said he is getting an ls agin. also if i really feel froggie i can just get a ls,gsr, and b16 trannys and do a diff one for what ever.lol
