Just want to know your opinion on a d15 single vtec against a double vtec..I'm in a dilema choosing the engine for my swap..I also want to enhace the engines performance in the near future but for now, agood IHE would do..thanks a lot.. :D (mga pinoy jan..tulong naman)

Well you're going to need the correct ECU for the 3 Stage VTEC. It's a P2J and pretty to rare to find in the US (not sure where you're from). The ECU also has to match the type of transmission you have. You'll need to convert to OBD2 which has some physical hurdles and a few wiring hurdles. All the intake valve switching gives you an early and never-ending power band. It makes for a great street vehicle. Power-wise it's as if you took a D16Y8 dyno graph and stretched the power band all the way down to 1500 RPM.

An OBD1 D15B VTEC swap would be the most straightforward. P28's are common to find, and wiring VTEC is extremely simple. This is a great motor, very similar to the D16Z6 but with a superior rod/stroke ratio (same as all D15's). It was available with an LSD tranny.

At this stage I'm not really into moding the engine up to the complicated stuff,only the basic IHE..But there's the possibilty of going that way..And I'm sure you guys can help me..thanks a lot..more power to civic eg.

you mean gat the d15 single vtec? :shock: dope..my engine is on the way,they're doing it now..well anyway basic mods are all I need..for now.. :D Thanks anyway and besides you have a 3 stage,you don't have any issues regarding your engine..(i Hope so)

- Fri Mar 13, 2009 6:57 pm #103000 Yeah. The D15 VTECs are incredible motors. Not necessary powerful when compared to a B series. But they LOVE to rev. They rev similar to a B17.

It's probably too late but you could have requested one with an LSD transmission. Harder to find, but well worth it. Mine is incredible when driving in the snow.

I love my engine. It's unbelievable. In 12 valve mode it's faster than any SOHC with all 16 valves open. When the RPMs climb into the VTEC range, forget about it. Too much fun to behave legally. It BEGS me to modify it. "Feed me money"! Oh man, I just can't do that and go bankrupt at the same time! I need to sell it. I want to get an Acura GSR and leave it completely stock. Something to keep me satisfied so I can go back to school and get my masters.
