So i was just wondering,
would a D16z6 be able to fit a y8 cam ?

theres tons of parts for the y8 and not many for teh z6

ive heard that you CAN use teh Y8 cam, but you need to get a Y8 cam gear also?

does this mean if i got an after market cam gear it would fit it regardless? e.g.- Skunk2 cam pulley

y8/y7 cam gears are 4.xx* of from d16z6, d16a6, ZC, etc all other d16's.
thats 1/2 a tooth on the cam gear.
if you buy an aftermarket cam gear, make sure you get it for the cam.
for instance if you get a y8 cam use a y8 cam gear.

where are you loooking?
there is way more aftermarket support for the D16Z6 that the D16y8.

Not really so. z6 gets way more love. Though they still do make parts for both.


Like the last guy said. it will fit, but it will also be off on the timing. You will have to get the gear and cam for the head together. cant use a z6 gear on a y8 cam. Timing will be fubar'd.

well i live in the UK and i dont have a clue were to look for parts except EBAY

and i know ebay is poo

any ideas were i could get a decent stage 2/3 cam and cam gear?

decent retainers and stoppers

and a DECENT exhaust system
.. might go custom on the exhaust but, i would like to have something decent on there for now

wait arent y8 and z6 cams pretty much the same? would there be a power increase from putting a y8 oem cam into my z6?

well you can use a y8 cam
but you need a y8 cam gear , and you need to increase the cam setting i think..

cant use a z6 gear beacuse its half a tooth out.. apparently
