- Mon Sep 21, 2009 7:39 am #145417 so i rebuilt my z6 motor all to specs with all new oem honda parts and everything i have read says to let the car idle for 10minutes after staring it for the 1st time....so thatg exactly what i did.

however after about 6minuts oil just started to pour and i mean pour out the head gasket from the back right corner behind the cam gear

i torqued the head to arp specs (im using brand new arp head studs) and in he honda recomended sequence. i even torqued the head in a 5step method of 20 30 40 50 62.

so my question is what do think could have caused this? i'm just tring to FIGURE OUT WHAT CAUSED THIS because i dont wanna just slap on another HG and have it happen again....

could this have anything to do with not having the pcv black box hooked up to the IM...because i dont have that hooked up since im watin on my greddy catch can....just wondering.....all ideas are greatly welcome. thanks guys

anyhows yes i know its not from the oil filter because i watched it pour out the head...i even have a pic for ya



thanks for the help i appreciate it...im about to pull the head off and take alook, im gonna take the head down and have it checked for straightness before i reinstall it just to be safe and im gonna clean the outta the contact area of the head and block. then replace with a oem honda HG.

hopefully it all works

this, most probably its your cam seal (on the cam directly behind the cam gear)

- Tue Sep 22, 2009 8:15 am #145833 i didnt change out the cam seal because it didnt leak before i rebuilt the motor and i never disassembled any of the head...but like i said im looking for all ideas so ill throw a new seal in there and see what happens.

i was looking at the bottom of the head today and there is a oil passage that is placed right ther next to the leak... could maybe the HG have cracked or broke at all upon install in that corner??

and do you really think that little seal could leak that much?? i mean if it could i will put a new one in and totally not question you guys at all.

- Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:36 pm #145843 It doesn't take much of a bad seal to leak oil, especially near a port that sees oil pressure. at high rpm, your engine gets up to about 75 psi for oil pressure.

If the cam seal got even the slightest knick in it, it would leak like a siv. I'd go ahead and replace that just to have it done whether it needs it or not.

thanks for the help soooo much a appreciate it...its too bad i have no f-ing patience bacause i pulled the head off before we could figure this out so i cost my self a new oem 85$ HG and time because ima retard and couldnt wwait and jumped the gun.

anyways thanks again guys im going to throw some liquid gasket maker around.that seal so it wont fall out again and be on my way...thanks again everybody

Also, make sure there isn't any oil on the timing belt as this will cause slipping and you don't want the timing belt to slip during driving or speeding. (Valve bent)

as for the timing belt getting cleaned what would you recomend i spray on it to clean it??simple green maybe?

i would just rotate the crank pully bolt by hand (counterclockwise only) until the oily part of the TB is exposed, and wipe it off with a rag. simple green might help.
but if its not leaking any more and you got it running, and not jumping a tooth, then you are probably ok.

- Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:23 am #146846 cleaning the t-belt with rag is good but be careful with the simple green as the solution is too strong and will dry out your belt.

Best way is to get a new one, but if money is tight...

TDC, pull the belt out and wash it with soap. Air dry and you are good to go on putting it back together.

But if you have to use simple green, do a 50 simple green / 50 water so it isn't 100% concentrated simple green.
