If you really want to spend money, I would look into eCtune, it is cheaper AND better.

And unless you are a pro drag racer or have a setup that needs the extra features of AEM, you don't really need it. There are numerous 700hp+ setups tuned on Crome.

- Sat Jun 27, 2009 3:30 am #126301 To do aem the RIGHT way, is about 3200 dollars. Not very pratical for a car that may not even be able to make 300 hp.

Neptune is a great choice to go. Hondata is great too since it had on-board data logging, for at the track, S300 is around 600 bucks though. Neptune cost me 200 bucks. Many of the cars in my area are tuned with neptune, and many of them are over 600hp.

Free crome is okay. for starters/noobs. Crome pro would be a better choice over free crome seeing as how you get SOOOO many more options etc.

i can do anything mechanical but electrical just isnt my ball game lol

It's newer and better for tuning.

I had an ecu chipped w/ Crome but then I got to thinking about the $1000 of machine work & assembly $ 500 of forged parts in the block plus the grand or so in the turbo setup. It didn;t really make sense to depend on outdated free software from an investment standpoint. Crome is ok for NA setups but is old school, not ideal for boosted setups.
Buying an S300 was a good piece of mind, plus you will save time & $$$ at the dyno because it is easier to tune and more reliable.
eCtune is still kinda new, but I have not heard a bad thing about it yet.
