#96160 So here is my problem. I have been going back and forth with an issue on my build.
Z6 balanced with all the bells and whistles. A Vitara build. No need to go into it because most of you know whats included. in building this I went through the idea in my head of being a twin charged ( super charger and turbo) for a little bit. So I purchased an HX35 a little while back (factory 24 Valve Cummins Turbo). The build is done minus tuning, and I still have the idea rolling around in my head of buying a JR kit and trying it out. I would like some input on this from people with no bias opinions.

The car is not just setup for straight line bullshit, before doing the turbo build I had everything setup for a road race car, so chasis and suspension wise, it will handle the power and torque. I just can't come up with a justifiable answer to this.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Mat

#96171 how much HP are you safely going to put down on just vitaras (and head studs i would assume)

Is twin charging gong to compromise the balance and reliability of your road car?

Besides those 2 issues, it would be an awesome head turner. Has it been done before? You'll be opening up a big can of worms when it comes to tuning the whole thing, but anything is possible with time and money.

I'd say you already have a turbo'd road car that you just completed... Drive it for a while and then if you get bored with it then go and build this monster

Heres a procharged and turbo DOHC VTEC

This is a supercharger and turbo DOHC VTEC

Oddly enough as I googled Twin Charged Civic those are the two videos that popped up.
I 100% agree on the head turner portion and I dont believe its been done on a SOHC. But I could be wrong.

Teal--- Head studs were a must of course. I was originally going to push for right around 15-20 lbs with spray on the HX, so I do believe it would hold the cylinder pressures quite well. If this did some to life I would end up using the super charger for right around 9lbs and the rest would be made up by the turbo. The only thing is, I dont know if the supercharger would physically slow down the CFM of the turbo entering the runners. I could see why it would but havent experienced it yet.

I believe you have a point. I really do like being turbo, its not my first. But before this I was running my Merkur, and that was a blast. Maybe I will for now just drive with single boost and see where its goes from there. Plus being this shitty economy I would rather not drop another G on this thing unless its paint.

#98447 That's a pretty good idea and i'd like to see it but if it were me i'd save my money for a while and just enjoy the turbo.

#98924 Here's something stupid that you probably already know...

Honda engines turn backwards. So you need a supercharger that turns backwards. Not that many available...

Disregard if this is obvious to you.

Thats why for right now, if I do decide to do this; the only option is a JR setup. Which i'm not to happy about in the first place. But this hasn't been done on a single cam. There is only so much you can do to be different in this day and age. I would like to stick out and do my own thing just like everyone else on this site, but jesus is it hard.
So this is still in air for right now. I'm am going back and forth on my decision. Its not a financial issue, its a do I want to purchase this; not like it and then have to sell it for half of what its worth (charger kit that is).
So I really don't know. Honestly I don't. it'll take me a day to install the JR kit and other than a tuning nightmare, its easy as pie.

#99129 Yeah... you pretty much gave up on being unique when you got yourself an EG. Everything's already been done, man. Don't worry at all what other people have. In a way that's putting a limitation on yourself. Do whatever you want, it's just a car. If you want to be unique go and get yourself a mohawk or something. Pierce your butt.

Best supercharged setup that ever existed for SOHC was an Endyn modified JRSC, custom intake manifold etc. But he quit doing it for some reason.

As for twin charging a SOHC, IMO you could have the same outcome by leaving the compression relatively high, with a good manifold, use a large turbo, and have it tuned professionally on some REAL engine management.

I do agree with trying to be unique. You are right, everything has pretty much been done. No butt piercing but I have had the mowhawk plenty of times before. The Endyn was one bad setup, but I wanted bigger and better. Not necessarily a retarded amount of boost, but something that was always fun and always different.
The outcome; thats the reason for this poll. I know I can make the same power numbers with alot less work when it would come to the Twin Charge setup by having a great tune. So I am stuck, but I am ready to put it on the road with what i have currently. I think I will be very happy and exicted everytime I start driving.

#108530 Working on my own twincharge setup except I'm using a SC14 (84cid) supercharger and have not yet figured which turbo to use.
