I'm just running with the turbo D idea for a mo to try and work out a rough cost versus a B16 swap given that prices of B's over here has plummeted...

Basically what is the bare minimum you'd need to turbo a Z6, running no more than about 6psi as a 'runabout'?

I mean literally minimum, as in a basic kit that works and won't cause any major problems

Cheers ;)

hmm

What turbo would you recommend for about 180-200hp? I don't want stupid amounts of power just a mini-boost (lol) over stock.

I'd be very happy with a 50hp gain over the standard D16 plant

grab a used 14b or even a ebay 14b knock off and you will be good to go turbo wise. it will spool very fast , almost like a super charger and will have enough air flow to get you to 200 with ease.

i could do a budget turbo build reliable and fast on a d series for 300 bucks..
thats not including tunning or motor nor ecm. it depends how much knowledge you have and imagination, you'd be surprised.
keep in mind i have a welder and a near by junk yard, its all you need.

good parts and money is great
good used parts and knowledge is even BETTER!!

last summers ago we (friends) got together 300 bucks and turbo a 500 dollar crx with a semi good d16 motor from a junk yard for 300 with harness and tranny only thing missing was a valve cover and starter .

well we cheated a bit with a stage 6 clutch and head studs and a wide band but ...i consider that free beeeeees, lol

i built the turbo kit and we did the swap. total 1100.00 us dollars
we did 14 psi on chrome pro opn a STOCK D SERIES !!!!!!! with a home build junk yard 2500 dodge ram 3" exhaust.... you guys should off seen it. spanking evo's at races.

thats to show you that shit can be done on a major budget.

we got an offer from some kid, his mom and dad bought him the car from us for $2800.00 a few months after the build was done.
