- Sat Jan 03, 2009 8:47 pm #86735 Just want to mention something when turboing a b20 they say to watch out because the sleeves will take a shit on you. People told me to not redline by b20 past 6500 (which is what the automatic tranny takes it to) but i took it to 8400 every day NOTHING ever happend to the sleeves. They said DONT YOU DARE take that thing passed 7 on turbo youl melt the sleeves. I hit 8400 while turboed and did nothing to the sleeves I melted a piston before anything happend to the sleeves So just im my personal opinion for the other b20 owners I truly believe the b20 weak sleeves is just a myth (maybe up to a certain amount of HP its not but ofcourse thats a diffrent story) just wanted to throw that in for the b20 owners that are sweating it about the sleeves on their motors

Well he's head was fully built on blueprint pro stage 3 cams on itb's. I think he posted he's all motor set up on the post your all motor build thread sumwhere here in the site.

Point is he's bottom end was stock also and never any problem.
We actually never had any problems on boosted nor all motor b20's. I guess sum ppl just doing some thing wrong or they just have bad luck.

I've personally seen 4 B20's with cracked sleeves.

And yeah honda did fuck up on that one but ppl contribute to the fuck up lol.

Exactly why "weak sleaves" aren't a myth, it's fact. The fact that the seperation is less provides the basis for saying B20 has weak sleaves.
