#83668 hey i finished my b16a swap into my 93 civic cx about a month ago i came up on a golden deal at a junk yard for pretty much a full greddy turbo kit. i was wondering how much boost you think i stock b16a can handle ( i was thinkin probably like 3 maybe 4?) and was parts i would need to make this happen. i know for fact the kit has all pipinng for my car and turbo with a manifold, BOV, intercooler. let me know all help is greatly appreciated :)

7-8 safe on stock w/ tune. (ofcourse a FMU or injecotrs)

10-12 safe on water/meth injection and tune.

but thats my 2 cents.

#85485 Suggesting how much boost you can take is worthless. It all Depends on the Turbo. 5psi on a Small 14b Turbo is nothing compared to 5psi on a Big GT32 or GT40.

You need to find out what Horse power your parts will break at. On a D16 the Rods Fail about 250hp or so. The B-Series rods are stronger, I am not sure what they break at. Once you find out how much power they can handle then that's your limit.

Take your car to a Tuner, have him tune your car until you get the power you want out of it. If you have a t3/t4 you should be able to get close enough to what power goals you might set out with.

Before you install your turbo kit, I HIGHLY Suggest reading up on Turbos @ Turbo D16. Another Good Resource for learning is Home Made Turbo, They cover alot of how you can set up your kit for the cheap.

#85492 assuming hes worried about his motor tells me hes not the richest person alive (like most of us) now assuming hes not the richest person alive makes me assume that hes just gonna go with some 1-2k turbo kit a/r 50 or so. now assuming itl just be a smaller affordable turbo kit thats what im giving him his #'s from.

or ofcourse as chrono said that is true depends on your turbo.

#85504 a friend from my area has a turbo b16, only mod is gsr cams on 12psi making 313whp, and if you wanna go the cheap route tune your car with a vtec controller I.e apexi neo

FMUs arent that great. ive heard bad stories about them being complete crap.

when i had my single cam boosted on a baby ass ihi turbo(7psi) comparing it to my car now it was a little faster so im assuming since it was lighter than my rsx it had around 150-160whp depending on dyno, alt., etc.

with a t3/t4 turbo or similar i wouldnt doubt you could run 8psi and get away safely with a good tune.

other than a vtec controller you could buy a chipped ecu from phearable.net and search around for some .bin files that people put up of their similar tunes and start with that and see what kind of a/f readings you get. eventually you are going to want to get it profeessionally tuned either street or dyno and you could use either chrome or uberdata which are both free tuning softwares.

as for parts needed aside from what you get with the kit:

downpipe (if not on the kit)
wideband o2 (recommended)
boost gauge/oil press. (whatever gauges you feel is necessary to have)
gauge pod
injectors (450cc to be safe)
resitor box or inline resistors (im not sure if the b16a is peak and hold or saturated)
oil pan gasket for when you take yours off to tap it for the oil return line
oil feed line and return line (if not already on the kit)
oil filter adapter plate (used to run oil feed line from and oil press. gauge if you have one)
wastegate (if not already an internal gate)
vacuum hoeses/fittings
tune

thats all i can really think of.. im probly forgetting somethings but thats mainly it. as chrono said homemadeturbo has A LOT of different set ups you could use and take ideas from or gather more parts that you may need.
