is it a good idea to rebuild a turbo your self ?? it does not seem to be to hard i took the turbo all apart and all it needs is new seals but i am going to put new bearings in also. any help would be great.

they need to be balanced which is best left up to a professional turbo builder

i don't really see a problem rebuilding a turbo yourself if the seals are shot...you can get a new seal/rebuild kit from ebay or something but like teal said if the shaft is out of balance then you will just destroy the new seals anyway.
i would say if it's an ebay turbo, just get a new one

If you marked the position of the compressor wheel on the shaft before you took it all apart, that would be the only way I would consider not having it re-balanced. But if the position changes or the blades ever contacted the housing, it will need balanced
