#128807 Boosting my D.

........

Anyways- don't wanna build the motor. I have rebuilt the motor already this year with new OEM parts. Don't wanna buy rods or pistons.

From what I have read, 7LBS of boost is the magic number.

I'm cool with that. I want the effect (PSSSS!) and a little bit of oomph - I'm not trying to race people all day. This is my daily driver.

I might be getting this Greddy t3/t04 kit from a guy I know.

Is this ideal? Should I be getting something else if I only want 7psi? Would Hondata be a good selection for an EMS? Neptune?

BASICALLY, WHAT KIND OF SET UP SHOULD I LOOK INTO, WITH SUCH A SMALL GOAL IN MIND?

All suggestions and input are welcome. Please do not tell me to search, I need first-hand accounts.

#128814 that turbo is a little bit much for what you'll be using it for. But it will work and down the road when you want to crank up the boost your turbo will be happy. :thumb:
Hondata & EMS are the 2 big players, Most tuners either specialize in one or the other if not both.
Neptune is free, so that may fit the budget better.
ectune is another program I've heard a lot of positive feedback about. I believe it's less expensive than hondata.

#129422 im telling you man once you get that taste of that 7lbs youll want moore!

well since your blok is rebuilt you are set. it can handle 8lbs easy. 10lbs with a very good tune. I am speaking considering you have a super good tuner. you need to find the best in your area. the tune means the most. its the life, reliability, fuel efficiency etc. its what keeps your engine alive! traveling a long distance is worth it for a super good tune!!

as far as the tune hondata & ems are great.

since we have the same blok im very intrested in seeing the numbers you make. im still planning what im going to do in the future. rebuild oem, rebuild aftermarket, swap out to bseries for a while and save my original engine. just alot of options.

keep us posted! Good Luck!!

#129439 Just run 8lbs and get a good tune and you'll be happy for a while, until you want more, and you will trust me

More than likely, yes. I had a bottom and top end rebuild. New OEM rods, rings, pistons, rear main seal got done, etc. Everything.

But that's all I want right now. I'm new to boost so I was wondering what setup would be good to just get that 7-8psi?

What I'm really asking is are there certain turbo setups or manifolds that are made to handle more boost or something? What about a little T25? Like an economy turbo?

#131204 it's not so much psi that matters... you should set a HP goal.

Decide what RPM you want to reach full boost at. Smaller turbos will spool faster but max out sooner.

From what I've read, a T25 to t3 (or similar range) will meet your goals.
You can meet your goals with a cast or log manifold. They are cheap and blingless but will be fine for that turbo.
A good reliable cast manifold will outlast any cheap ebay stainless POS manifold.

#132092 For 7-8PSI you might also want to look at a Stock 14b or T-25 from an eclipse. that turbo would be great for 7-8psi and could easily be bumped up to 12-14 for a while, but if you run with that set up, later on you could bump up to a 16g or 18g.
