im gonna be building a d16z6 and im gonna turbo it with 8-10 psi
what would be a good CR to have??

this is the turbo set up im gonna run
http://www.edelbrock.com/sportcompact_n ... perf.shtml

and another question
i hear vtec and turbo dont mix well?? is this true
or does it matter if i have vtec with a turbo??

just stick with the stock CR, no need to change it when boosting. It's just more headaches, either from more boost lag with a lower cr, or more difficult/fine tuning with a higher cr. Not to mention you'll need even higher octane gas with s higher cr.
There's no problem with boosting a vtec motor :thumb:

yeah...stock or lower is fine, i'm in the process of building mine and i'm going to be running ~8.4 CR with 75.5mm vitara's and FJ custom length rods :thumb: i believe stock is somewhere posted here... are you going to build the internals?

yupp... im gonna keep stock compression, but im gonna get forged rods, and try to get a forged crank[maybe], im not sure if they have forged pistons, but if they do im gonna go all forged to be on the safe side :thumb:

well i'm pretty sure that the z6 cranks are forged or at least damn well close... if your going replace the internals, i suggest the vitaras unless your only going to throw 8-10psi at it for sure and want to keep the stock CR. they are just a lot cheaper and pretty much the same bang for your buck. FJDistributors.com ftw :D and i'm pretty sure the edelbrock kit is capable of ~25psi and 350-400hp.

i have been doing ALOT of research at d-series.org and turbod16.com, i'm going to be running about 20-22psi of boost and ~300whp (hopefully!) :thumb:

are you going to be doing the build yourself? turn up the boost!

ya im gonna only run about 8-10, but then after i get the motor and turbo broke in, then i wanna run 12-15. and ya im gonna build the motor myself

i dont want to get to crazy with boost, me and my friend turboed his neon, and we got it tuned, then he just kept gettin boost happy and turnin it up till one day... :( , so im gonna play it safe and keep the boost low :thumb:

pffft...just get a good tune, trust me your gonna want more anyway :thumb:

that sucks about the neon, but come on it's a dodge lol. sounds like he didn't have it tuned for his new setting, let me know what you end up doing, cause i'm going to be rocking the boosted z6 as well, when you planning on doing the bottom end?

any head work planned?

Your crank is fine for your plans. Honda cranks are great :thumb:
People say not to worry about them until you approach 400 HP range.

You could have it re-balanced for a piece of mind if you'll be spinning at higher RPM's often.

It's a good idea to have it looked over while it's out and see if it needs to be micro polished.

im gonna start build the bottem as soon as i get everything i need, i like to have all the parts b4 i start workin so rite now all i have is the ecu and bout 1000 saved up, so its gonna take awhile, but hopefully i can start sooner then planned...

and ya i wanna either get a buddy club cam, springs and retainers from passwordjdm or i wanna get skunk 2 cam , spring and retainers, and im gonna get a AEM cam gear, then i'll have the head machined and ported and polished :thumb:

i hopin for bout 250-275 hp range, a lil something to put v8s in there place :woot:

ok cool, but ya im gonna have the blocked honded out, and head port and polished, so i might as well get that done while im at it :thumb:

yeah i heard that about the honda cranks, all the v8 guys are always jealous of that fact :thumb:

with a turbo, i think they lose efficiency around 8000rpm or something like that so revving to the moon is kind of pointless and i plan on keeping the stock rev limit especially with my stock head. but after some head work, i would raise it to like 7800 or 8000 but not much more.

i just ordered my vitara's/FJ Rods, a full gasket kit, ACL duraglide bearings for ~550, so you can get a hell of a good start with what you have. i like where your head is at with the head, i think that full port/polish is in order and a new cam for sure...

i can't wait to see the look on the v8 guys when you pull past them.. :woot:

but 250-300whp is a good reliable achievable number.... going to be a DD i'm assuming?

wow all that for 550 not bad at all :thumb: im gonna have to look into that!!

but ya this is gonna be my DD
i was gonna do a mini me swap
but lookin at everyones turboed egs
made me wanna turbo my car!

yeah man, i didn't think it was bad at all... the same thing happened to me, i saw the turbo'ed eg's, especially if you head over to d-series or something, the single cam is coming back and gave me some inspiration. i'm so excited to get some boost going, i already got my boost/oil pressure gauges which dont help the situation, i'm slowly accumulating parts off of craigs and ebay in the mean time.

plus my buddy has a 99 Si so i have to try and outbuild him :thumb: although he has a GSR block on the side he is building that is going to be nasty whenever he gets that done... :eh:
