removing steering wheel

so i just got done w/ my dash swap and i wanna swap out my steering wheel but the screw for the air bag is still stripped. is there any way to remove the darn thing w/out takin out the airbag?

no, because the airbag covers the main locknut to take the steering wheel off. i would advise going to home depot or alternative hardware place and to get advise onto removing that stripped pecker.

i ran into this problem once. i had to drill the fucker out. if you plan on reusing the steering wheel with airbag. id replace those star bolts with 10mm.

honestly i've tried to drill this sucker out with a dremel and power drill.. it's like some kinda omega screw!!

so i heard that if you have a detachable steering wheel you wont be able to get your car deq'ed as well is that true?

I feel your pain. Thankfully, my Civic never had airbags (Canadian) ... but I have had this problem at the junkyard ... but at least there I can be a little less "civil" on the steering wheel.
I suggest getting a screw extractor instead of just trying to drill it out... should work infinitely better.

Craftsman makes a set like that but it isn't double sided. Works like a charm.
