Cleaning a transmission

Would it be safe to use a pressure washer on a tranny that is out of the car? I plan on doing a fluid change when the motor goes back in the car so any water that might get inside should come out. The donor car I got the ls swap from had busted cv boots, and the motor was leaking oil, so the tranny is pretty nasty.

Thanks

I think it would be safer to steam clean
Just don't get water on the block

As posted above as long as the vents are covered(slits on top, cover with tape), the vent hole and the axles are plugged in then water shouldn't get into the transmission. It should then be safe to use a pressure washer to clean it as long as your tape sticks.

I Personally used Carburetter cleaner and an old toothbrush and some rags to clean up my Transmission, then hit it up with silver spray paint and it looked good as new.

Ok. Ill pop the axles back in, cover up the vent hole and test spray a small spot. If that doesnt work, ill use some carb cleaner and a brush.

Thanks!
