Honing?

Engine honing is the process in which a mechanic uses fine-grade stones to deglaze the cylinder walls of an engine block before the pistons are put back into the engine. This assures a tight, leak-free fit between the piston rings and the cylinder walls

If it is a good machine shop, then they should do this.

I've used total seal once before with good results. Im not expert on piston rings, but as long as their properly gaped and installed I dont think the brand matters much...
