i have a d16z6, if i put a y8 head on would it give it more horsepower? or would it take away horsepower and make it quicker? or will it just make it quicker while having more horsepower....any other opinions on engines would be helpful.

when you give a motor more power it will be quicker. the y8 head will rise the compression so you will have more power.
they z6 motor with the y8 head will be a good motor for n/a power, for boost i will leave the stock z6 head on
after that any motor will fit, so its all on how much money you want to spend
