Can anybody tell me how to fix the no tach problem in a dx. When do you shift when you are trying to be a little quick off the line. No i don't mean street race. Can ya tell me the mph to shift each gear?

Just shift where it feels comfortable.
Best thing to do is just get another guage cluster from a different model EG that already has the tach. They're pretty easy to find, and everything will plug right in.
Or invest in a aftermarket one, they're pretty easy to install.

wouldn't a car that didn't have a tach not have a hook up for one?

No, the connector should be behind the dash for plug and play. I'm running an automatic cluster on my manual civic just because it has a tach. My car didnt have a tach when I first got it.

yep ive thrown ex/si gauge clusters in dx civics all the time and the tach always works, plugs right in, just like if your civic dosnt have a clock the plug for it is still there

same here, i used an SiRII a/t gauge cluster, no problems at all! currently using an ITR one. ;)
you should not run into problems hooking up an EX one.

dude i got the same problem. i got the dx too and i hate not having a tach. aftermarket tachs r like 100+ too so its nice to kno that u can swap in another models dash. i usually shift from first at 10-15 from second at 25-30 from 3 at 35-40 and from 4th at like 55-60, depending on if its like a hill or w/e

Holy shit, you shift that low?
Economy driving, I'm shifting into second between 20-30, third between 40-50, fourth between 70-80 and fifth between 90-100.
I have the LX, without a tach either. I'm considering getting the stock grey coloured gauge pod for the driver side pillar and putting in oil pressure, a tach and another gauge.

Anyone realize how hard it is to find 2" tachs? If anybody knows a website or company who sells them, please direct me.
I don't want a huge 5" ricer on my dash, but those smaller onces that you mount right on/above your steering column look nice.
What can someone recommend? Having done a tach/gauge install?
