a couple weeks ago i took my brother's EG6 civic for a ride,i decided to "clean-up" the air flow meter a bit, when i took it out i cleaned it with carburator-injector spray,it was allright, when i tried to put it back, the gasket over there was cracked  i tried to fix it but it was pointless.2 days after that i went to the local automotive shop and bought a new gasket for the air flow meter. when i placed it,it was just fine.5-10 minutes later i parked the car,had neutral gear on and the car was revving from 1000-2000rpm every 2 seconds.what could be wrong? is it a problem of the flow meter or some other wire? please help! :(

sounds like a possible vacuum leak. did you compare the new gasket to the old one and see if they are identical?

no, but I have had vacuum leaks before, the symptoms are similar to what you describe. Maybe the spray messed up the sensor :?
