hid reflector

i have new crystal lenses and installed an hid system in my eg. i am aware that these can get really bright at night and some drivers are not happy with it. for me, its more for my safety since our roads can get poorly lit.

someone tells me that to get better light output and perhaps reduce glare to oncoming traffic is to remove the reflector or cap inside the lens and therefore expose the bulb. does this make sense?

likewise, i noticed that although i am happy with my alignment at low beam, when i switch to high beam, the light just concentrates in front and actually moves a little sideways too. any suggestions?

Do ti, and i will find you and shoot you... the shield is there to prevent the glare that blinds on coming drivers, yes you still have glare at the moment, but if you remove that shield, it will be like driving with a HID highbeam all the time

thanks for your reply. how about my the issue with the high beams just concentrating in front and not really getting far, distance-wise? is that a characteristic of hid bulbs?

Well do you have a Bixenon HID bulb? if not then you wont have a highbeam HID

here is my setup and i don't know if any of these affect the light output: crystal lenses; (not the projector or dual lens type) its just the stock civic form but the prisms are on the reflector and not the glass cover (grooves) as with the oem one.

the bulbs are "h4" type with the solenoid that pushes it out for "high beam". i noticed that i would get the high beam output if i adjust the vertical alignment way high that it blinds everybody i encounter. to try to be a good citizen, i lowered it to a good compromise level at the expense of good high beam reach. i also put eyelids to soften the glare from the top of the lens.

by bi-xenon you mean the one with 2 hids on top of each other? what do you recommend?

No if you have the style with the solenoid, and have both high and low beams, then you have Bixenon.

so then my high beam issues are a result of my adjustments perhaps? some internet posts i've read mention that the thin wire running the length of the bulb must be at the bottom of the installation. what is the reason behind this?

my socket adaptor, when i align the "top" mark of the bulb to it results in that very wire resting in the 45 degree down position. is this an issue?

the wire should be at the bottom cause it causes light distortion, however this is only really for when using projectors, not for the kit that you have, is the wire on a 45 degree blow pointing down? or pointing up?

it is 45-degrees pointing down. some say i have to readjust the adaptor in the lens socket so that when i align the "top" mark, it will bring the wire down. any sense to that?

i just find it too hard to remove the headlights to get to the adaptor again. the engine is a tight squeeze and with the eg, you have to remove the bumper to cleanly remove the housing.

do you think that explains why my high beam is distorted and goes to the left?
