ECU, Wiring, Sensors

#1323 At the moment i am driving a 94 civic 1500 LSI! But i am putting in a B16a2 91 crx which comes with its Ecu. Now, the site admin has put up a wiring diagram of all Ecu's and i need to know which one to use for the crx?
I am going to be wiring up all the vtec, sensors and stuff from the crx engine through the wall, and then just wire in the rest of the original wires that sit behind the dash e.g lights and stuff from the civic, into the crx Ecu. Will this work?
Thanks guys

#1337 there was a thread by vtec_gloucester that hepled me out here...

94 civic 1500 LSI = 1.5 SOHC SPI non-vtec So it sounds like you have the equal of a dx model.
The "B16a2 91 crx" confuses me though because we never had a B-series in a CRX here. But this will be easy to figure out. Is the B16a2 91 crx OBD0 or OBD1?
You should only have to run maybe 3 wires... one for the Vtec solenoid on the head, and 2 for the oil pressure sensor on the head. Thats my first guess.

Also what ECU do you have coming from B16a2 91 crx... PR3?

#1342 thanks for the reply. By checking this thread the ecu looks to be a OBDO Pr3 but i cant be sure as i would need to open the ecu to see the code, which is still at the mates!

So your saying to run the vtec engine in my non vtec hatch all i need to do is run the three wires throuhg the loom and connect everything up to this new Ecu?
By looking at this thread it looked to be six wires? Even tho they are basing the wiring diagram on a B16a3 (dont know the difference!)

You can see why i am struggling!
Have a look and tell me what you think
Thanks again

#1343 I dont know much of anything about OBD0 :( If your new ECU is OBD0, then It might be worth your while to buy an OBD1 ecu for your B16 so it will be all plug and play.

Also I think all ECU's have a white sticker on the side that has the ecu code (or OBD1's do)

#1344 I looked at that link:

B16A3 in EG Civic
There are 6 lines to check on.

Engine Side ECU Side
Desciption Wire Color Pin/Connection
VTEC Solenoid Yellow/Green A4
VTEC Oil Pressure Sensor Blue (passenger side harness) D6
VTEC Ground Black chassis ground
Knock Sensor Red/Blue D3
Evap Purge Power Yellow/Black 12V power
(hot in ON or START)
Evap Purge Solenoid Red A20

Best route I think is to get the OBD1 ECU and do this although there are OBD0 -> OBD1 conversion harnesses you could use as well.

#1345 buy a conversion harness it'll probably run you like 75 bucks max

#1346 thanks boys, it does sound mental, even tho i have the Ecu for the engine it requires me to buy a new Ecu to make it work! Will have a look at the Ecu in my car and scope it out! Thanks for the tips lads!
