map sensor?

- Tue Jul 14, 2009 10:52 pm #130395 about a week ago i started the car and it idle low and rough. i checked my sensors and they were all plugged in. but just to check i unplugged the map sensor and the idle jumped up and the car ran fine. for the next few days i would start it then unplug the sensor till it evened the idle, then id plug it in. but now i leave it unplugged and the car runs fine without the sensor. is this ok? im not sure if i need a new one. any suggestions?

- Wed Jul 15, 2009 12:16 am #130445 did you have a check engine light before you unplugged the map sensor? If so, check the code. You also may want to clean/check the FITV and IACV (fast idle thermo valve) (intake air control valve).
One of those is more likely to need cleaned before a Honda map sensor would go bad.

- Wed Jul 15, 2009 9:49 pm #130670 i cleaned all the sensors and then started ther car and it wouldnt stay on. i resest the ecu and it bogs for a second but then the intake sucks in lots of air all of a sudden and the car runs fine. now what?
