#60207 ok got a question. i read somewhere that d series engines have the potential of up to 200 hp by just tuning the stock ecu. :? now i could have read wrong but i dont think i did. is it possible to use a program to tune the stock ecu on a 95 civic dx coupe? and give it a hp increase?

#60211 No, that's not true. It's physically impossible. The most you can gain from a standalone on a stock motor is right around 9hp. A 80 whp gain is a stupid and ridiculous claim.

If the engine has all the conventional bolt-ons, I have seen results as high as 17 whp gain from the baseline. And that's an incredible gain. A claimed 90hp gain is just stupid. Maybe on a high displacement domestic, but not a Honda.

The stock ECU puts some very strict constraints on tuning. None of the programs written for it are worth the money. You wont see consistent results. On one pull, you get a 6hp gain. The next pull goes back to your baseline. Standalone is the way to go, and AEM offers a plug n play EMS with basemaps included in the software.
