temp gauge problems need help asap

- Mon May 26, 2008 5:11 pm #56657 well my temp gauge no longer works and hasnt been workin for about 2 months. i did not care at the time because i had the 1.5 in it and couldve cared less if it blew up. i rewired what i thought was the problem but thaqt didnt work. i know it isnt the motor or engine harness becuase i just did my swap and they were both good. is there anyway to "hardwire"
it to make it work. i was thinkning of just jumping off the ecu to the gauge? can anyone please help?

- Mon May 26, 2008 5:33 pm #56659 also when my key is turned to the run possition the gauge bottoms out or it goes down all the way but on the accesery position it stays a little bit higher

- Tue May 27, 2008 12:11 am #56687 The EG gauge clusters quality hasn't quite impressed me to be honest.
My temp gauge, fuel level gauge and speedometer already died on me, and now my second rpm gauge needs replacement as it is f00ked.

Chances are the gauge itself just died on you, I'd try another one (maybe from a friend?) before you're going to look any further.

And; did you use your old temperature sensor with the swap, or did it come with the sensor... because you swapped them out, if the other cluster doesn't work either I'd check the sensor.

- Tue May 27, 2008 5:38 pm #56755 well i ran a wire from my cluster to the ect sendin unit and that worked only while cranking......then i ran a wire from my ecu but that threw 2 codes. i played with some more wiring and now it works just fine. kinda weird but o well
