- Sun Mar 23, 2008 2:56 am #47332 i have this "jdm spec" front strut bar installed in my eg. it is the type with the crescent-shaped ends.

it is installed with the crescent pointing towards the back. i've seem some pictures in the net that shows the same bars but the crescent facing front. does this make a difference? i mean these two positions result in the bar being 3-4 inches either front or backwards. any handling differences perhaps?

also, if i have to change it, does the surface have to be flat so as not to adapt whatever irregular angle my struts are at the time i would change them? or i can just change it and they will adjust on their own?

What kind of bar is it. "jdm spec" does not mean a thing.

No real difference if it can be mounted both ways. All a strut bar does is reduce chassis flex, which is why aftermarket designs vary but a pic of what bar it is would help to determine the designed mounting position.

This kind of does not make sense. The bar does not tie your struts, it ties the towers that the struts are mounted in.

You would want the car to be level so you can torque each side equally but it should not affect it much. The chassis is not soft like rubber.

Don't over think this. It's a bar and a couple bolts and nuts.

- Sun Mar 23, 2008 12:14 pm #47350 thanks for the reply. well, they would fit both ways anyway so i guess it doesn't matter which side its facing. i was thinking of moment arms being that a few inches can make a difference in handling but your explanation makes good sense.

any torque values for this installation or just hand-torqued would be alright?
