DIY: window track repair.

Postby 99cx » Thu Apr 29, 2010 6:40 pm

So many Civic owners have trouble with their windows.
the come off the track and then are unable to use them.
So if your window:
-Is off track
-Rattles when you close the door
-wont go up all the way
-or just plain messed up
Follow these steps to repair it. For Good!

Here is the problem to start.
Image
First start by removing your door panel.

Now remove the window. to do so loosen the two screws on each side.
they dont have to come all the way out. enough to slide the track off of it.

Image

once you have taken the window out Remove the 6 10m screws holding the regulator on
Image

Then drop the track through the hole.

Once the track is removed inspect it and look for bends in the metal.
they usually all bend in the same place
(because people get fustrated and yank on the crank going "fukin window wont go up!%$*" and then bend something)

Image

now you have 2 options. bend the metal straight again and pur it back in orrrr re-enforce it so it wont happen again.
since this is the 3rd time its happened im going to fix it for good.

cut metal to fit
Image

place metal
Image

attach metal

annd your done
Image

now install the regulator back in the door.

then put the glass in.
when doing this make sure you lube up the grove in which it slides in

then slide the window all the way down and screw those 2 bolts tight again.
Image

Image
then try it out!
Image

put your door panel back on and your set!
hope this helps some people.
others may not need it.

Enjoy!

Just wanna say a big thanks mate! this really helped me when my window came out of the rubber sleeve bit and wouldn't go up to the top.

If it wasn't for you i'd have ended up taking it to get done at a shop!

Thanks man <3

Good DIY, I did everything and still heard an annoying rattle. Turns out it was the damn antenna.
