#335274 Holest I might look into but I've talked to a few tuning shops around me. So far precision has the highest failure rate out of the turbos they have sold within last 8 months. I'm not looking to make 1k lol but I decided to look into borg last night and I could not believe how cheap (in price) they were. I was super pumped to pick one out but they ALL are freaking twin scroll and the turbine housings are ridiculously huge, way larger than I need and it would massive lag.

People have been trying to get me to buy the precision 6262 which again is rated for a turbo that is too high for what I need and I literally had 3 three blow up in the course of 5 months (a couple of my friends setups). It seems all of the name brands are taking a hit in quality control, I have a stage 4 competition clutch that worked great. I convinced my friend to get one for his setup and it was bad out of the box. Same with ACT. So hopefully when I'm ready to buy I won't get a bad turbo :?

#335277 Holset is famous for the applications on the Cummins used in rams. I would say a hx40 or super 40 would be plenty. Plus the spool sound of a good holset is orgasmic!

#335284 I'm shooting for around 500 and no more than 560 I'll see what Holest has too offer. Thanks! :thumb:

Thanks! :thumb:

Now for an update I'd rather not have happen :/ My DD is in pretty bad shape, its driveable atleast  It's something in the head either it be collapsed lash adjusters or my exhaust camshaft is finally wiped. Either way it needs headwork and the best option is to replace the head, needless to say this will be putting a delay in the project

I do have a good update tho I'll post a picture tomorrow (too sad to look at car parts)

#335555 Forgot to post the css block. Snapped a quick pic before work, if anyone is interested in the css process done to their block, it MUST be decked as each one is done by the block that is sent in. Its not like the GE blockguard where its one size "fits" all.

They recommend you going with a larger radiator, I'm going to go ahead and either add more holes (two more to each cylinder) or just enlarge the holes already there to allow more coolant.

#335687 Quick update:

Realized that adding more holes in my css block would do no good since it wouldnt match the holes on the head . I'm still up in the air about what I want to do with it. Either leave it alone or just enlarge the holes just a tad.

Other than that nothing else to report other than I repainted my bay, I FINALLY finished my headlight harness tuck that includes testing and making sure the lights worked and all. Also after a month of trying to get my desired compression ratio of around 9.8:1 I found a set of Wiesco pistons that will put me around 9.77:1 after the block has been decked.

Not sure if I mentioned this but I'll be putting my ls internals in my gsr block, that alone set me back on trying to reach my desired compression ratio.

Stay tuned!

#335953 Decided to respray the bay black (probably regret it later). Also picked up a spare gsr block for $100 :thumb:

#336714 It's been awhile and unfortunately nothing new has happened. I've hit another road block (the engine went up in my DD) and it took a big chunk of money (enough to actually finish the civic :/) :x

In spite of that I dropped off my block from the machine shop to get some work done, just need a windage tray and pickup and the block is done!

#337121 So 13 days I'm finally ready to start assembling the block :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: . As per usual I couldn't get started till late (10pm). I was busy doing everything and now that we are short handed at work I might have to go back to working 6 days a week :x :x .

Anyway I managed to get SOMETHING going today tho. I only managed to snap this pic before getting started, I'll pick it back up Sunday and snap a few more pics and hopefully have the block ready that day or late tuesday :).

One more thing, in addition to the block progress I'm now able to move on-to getting parts for the head and already have made a few valvetrain purchases 8) . Stayed tuned!

#337619 Ditching the oil cooler (I don't have the water pipe anyway) for now at least. I'll probably configure an aftermarket one later down the road. Anyway, head is assembled, doing some research turns out I don't have to spend as much to achieve my goal also my power goal has also dropped to 450-460. Picked up some 1600cc injectors on the cheap that have already been flow benched. I had originally planned on going with either skunk 2 pro'1 or tuner 2 camshafts but I can easily make my goal on stock gsr's $40 vs $600 lol

Skunk 2 lma's, supertech valvesprings, valve stem seals, and inline 4 snapfit retainers installed! Getting pretty close!
