gutting my civic

Postby 92civicEGsedan » Mon Jun 20, 2016 7:54 pm

Okay I'm in the process of gutting my car making it into a sleeper it's a 4 door and I've removed the rear seat, carpet, front door panels gonna remove the rears door panels, the sound deadening everything from my trunk, rear seat belts also trying to remove the ac and heater box behind the dash if I could ever figure out how to remove it and I'm also removing the srs and I removed the head liner. I want to know what else I can remove and or cut out I want to get the car as light as possible also going to remove the cruise control if it is not necessary I want to know what it is and if it's removable

Get a Odyssey PC680 battery. I replaced my heavy battery with one and it weighs about 1/3 less and is the size of a head unit. But get a battery tender if you let the car sit for long periods of time.

if it has power windows and locks, replace the doors with manual ones

take the dash out and just start taking the airbox/ac/heater core stuff out. be sure to loop the heater core hoses from the engine

get solid engine mounts from Innovative or Hasport then remove the torque arms and mounts and that big ass ac compressor bracket

convert the car to manual steering or remove the power steering parts and loop the fluid lines

get light wheels

theres a nut in the engine bay that holds the heater core in, its right by the hose inlet/outlet...took me ages to figure out why my heater core wouldn't budge, that's probably the main issue that I can see people having

On a different side of things this is what my engine bay is starting to look like. Just need to finish up my header.

Right now it's a Garrett gtp38. I'm slowly working on the header and everything and once I get the header built I'm rebuilding my lil d15
