#65003 thAts wat i 'm tryin 2 figure out bro.
i dont really understand wat the compressor does.
i've just heard alot of talk about it when installing coilovers and such.
I hope i dont have to have one when i install mine.

#65009 Well, you only need the compressor if you're going to use your stock springs. But trust me, based from my experience just buy known coilovers. There are some on eBay as well, don't cheap out by just buying those sleeves. If you're on a budget, try those Function & Form Type I's or Skunk2 Sport coilovers. They're not that expensive.

As the saying goes: "Do it right the first time!" :thumb:

EDIT: I meant stock shocks.. :D

#65049 the only thing you need compressors for is getting the tophats off if you have stock springs.

no you dont, you dont even need the spring compressor, pull your shock and strut out, put it on the floor or outside in the das, get a 14 mm ratcheting wrench and a 5mm alin key and lossen away, you will only get a lil pop, these are small cars not 4x4 trucks, i lowerd my 90 civic, 91 crx, 93 eg8 and my buddies eg6 like that and no one has been hurt, and they are still going strong. i think im gonna stop writing now.....

#65061 ^^ Yeah, you can also do that but of course we newbies want to be safe. I once saw someone who did not use a compressor on his integra suspension and someone almost got hurt.. But yeah, safety first. :thumb:

Sounds pretty accurate to me!
Saftey is always a risk, no matter wat the task maybe.so i'm not really worried.
But i dont see wats the real reason of the spring compressor.
What can happen if you dont use a spring compressor??
U Should just be able to unloosen the bolts and pull the spring off right?

what could happen if you dont use the compressor nothing really, but you would need the compressor you put the stock springs back in.

umm that top nut where you need the 14mm ratchet rench and a 5 mm alin key can sometimes be really tight and a painto get off but once its lose i would put it on the ground and then finish lossening it off

break the 14mm/allen loose before you take off the shock.
pb blaster helps
but don't take it all the way off. just loosen it
then take the shock/spring off.

#65093 um you have to take the hat off the top of the shcok which holds the spring inplave which means you have to take that nut off * JUST DONT LOST THAT NUT*

#65125 Sorry but i just didn´t feel like reading everything. But here is my on it. Remove your wheel, take the bottom fork bolt out, go to the top nut on your shocks (inside the hood in the case of the front struts ) remove it, ( make shure your put a rag or something on to so it doesn´t fly off and hits you in the face or the eye socket , remove your spring and ad the coilovers, bingo! :woot: No need for spring compressors. do it the getto way yo! :thumb:
