i got some ground control coil overs, anyone wanna direct me to a write up of putting this bad boys on?

What don't you know how to do?

Like do you know how to get the shock bodys off the car at least?

no i mean in terms of installing them, it came with two lil tools? wrenches almost like, and i dont know how to go about the ride height, isnt marked in terms of 1-4 inches


and wanna know when installed, whats the best ride height for front n back (normally) im not trying to have my shit dragging down the street

but yea, i just need a write up on installing them, im pretty sure its not hard, but is there a tool to take off the old shocks so that they dont smack me in the face when they come out or what?

its best to just screw them about half way up on all the sleeves to start with.

to get the rear shocks off the car there are 2 nuts on the rear shock tower and then one bolt that goes through the shock leg and LCA. Undo those.

once the shock is off, the best way is to use a spring compressor but i usually just use to wheels with tires on them. get an impact gun or a wrench on the nut. then put the shock between the two wheels and sit on one and undo the nut on top of the shock. when u get it off the spring will decompress and knock the tire back some but its better than having it go through a wall or your face.

you might wanna invest in good aftermarket struts for your coilovers. Stock ones are not friendly for lowered vehicles and will leak/blow out in no time. Then your car will ride like a bouncy hoopty

yea thats what i figured, im assuming the fronts are the same as well?

i heard they rent like manual hand wrenching ones


but yea, im trying to imagine what your saying about sitting ont he tires, but its just not coming to me loool

Oh yeah. Those wrech things you have with the coilovers are called spanner wrenches. They are so you can adjust the height once the coilovers are on the car.

I wouldn't bother with re-using the stock struts though. Buy aftermarket and eliminate this step all together.

yeah man, itll be better to just wait and get some Koni Yellows or even some Tokico HP blues are good.

I went with the tokico HP's, I got them back in 2001 for $240. They are still on the car 60k later, but the rears are leaking. probably from college days of driving home from the bar with drunk passengers stacked in the back like firewood.

I had them on my car back before I bought my PIC's and I never had any complaints lol.

is there a certain tool i can rent for taking the springs off? summin i can hook to my air compressor to decompress the spring?

Cut Rate AutoParts(crap) sells external spring compressers. just attach your air ratchet to the ends and it shrinks real quick. the only way to redo coil-overs.

I gotta admit, I'm pretty pleased with the way my Tokico blues have held up. I got them 6 years ago and they are still in good shape, no leaks or problems yet.
