Super Easy TPS Removal

Postby suspendedHatch » Wed Nov 25, 2015 4:28 am

This is not widely known, but to remove a TPS sensor that just has little nubs instead of screws, all you have to do is break loose the ring underneath and turn the nubs out with your fingertips. You don't even need vice grips. Just take some pliers and rotate the ring a little and the rest will turn right out.

Just break the washer loose and the bolt head will screw out by hand.

Be careful to save the gasket. Parts of it usually stick to one side or the other. Carefully break it loose before you rip it.

TPS's are commonly broken on imported engines or any time someone does a swap. I pull them off 80-90's Civics, Accords, Integras- pretty much any Honda and Acura. They're all interchangeable, as is the case with most sensors. If the plug fits and they mount up, then they're the same.

Get out there and start grabbing them up.
